The Open Mind – Restorative Yoga

An event every week that begins at 4:00pm on Sunday, repeating until December 30, 2018
The Open Mind Center’s Restorative class is open to all students. Release stress, increase flexibility and balance the mind/body connection through gentle flowing movements, meditation and longer held Restorative postures. Gentle stretching and movement warms the muscles and releases tension to prepare the body and mind for rest and stillness. The Open Mind Center’s instructors infuse breathing and relaxation techniques and offer supportive props to help students release layers of tension and revitalize natural rhythms. A wonderful calming and relaxing experience.

Instructor: Jayne’s journey to yoga has been a long and winding road. She flirted with yoga intermittently for a number of years, using it primarily as a rehabilitation tool to recover from sports injuries. When her knees could no longer take the abuse inflicted upon them, she began to consider the idea that yoga had to become a consistent practice in order to allow her to continue to lead an active life. Eventually, she decided to actually listen to her body. Then… something magical happened… she discovered that she didn’t need to pound pavements or tear around a tennis court in order feel peace. Yoga, she discovered, was more than enough…
Trained under the guidance of the teachers at Peachtree Yoga Center, she is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified yoga instructor. As a life-long learner, she continues to deepen and enrich her skills with continued study in both yoga and meditation.
She teaches in order to bring to others the balance and healing she has experienced through the practice of yoga postures, pranayama and the sacred stillness of meditation.
Instructor: As a devoted practitioner and teacher, Kelly, uses an intuitive and organic approach within Yoga’s asana, pranayama and meditative practices to create a safe, open and relaxed space for exploration. By guiding students on the mat through the use of asana sequencing and attention to the flow of the breath, her intention is for each student to gain access to the ever present subtle internal state that Yoga informs- and experience the power and usefulness of the individual mind/ body apparatus. She hopes to inspire each student to connect to their own unique inner teacher and exquisite divine nature. Kelly’s passion is Yoga- its healing and empowering alchemy. She often uses this quote in relaying her love of the sacred practice of Yoga…” the melody of the mind, the rhythm of the body and the harmony of the Soul create the symphony of life”. This is what she hopes to cultivate through her teaching. And with a personal practice of 15+ years and Yoga Alliance certified through Peachtree Yoga Center via mentor Graham Fowler, Kelly teaches All Levels, Restorative and Gentle Flow classes, as well as a Beginners class here at Open Mind.
