Build your practice and deepen your experiences through the fundamentals of yoga. Students are instructed and supported in the process of learning proper alignment, breathing and relaxation techniques. The use of props is encouraged to support the practice and create greater confidence. This is a moderately paced class and is open to the beginner and experienced practitioner.
Offered: Thursdays from 9:30-10:45am; Fridays & Saturdays from 11:00am-12:15 pm; Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:00pm

Instructor: David has been playing competitive squash for the last 30 years and experienced the usual and frustrating injuries that arise from playing sports at a high level. Finding yoga only after intolerable back pain, he has returned to competitive squash play but also discovered a true calling to yoga. With his love of teaching and wellness, he committed to advancing his yoga practice to the next level through the LifePower Yoga 500-hour yoga teacher training certification process and is now a Yoga Alliance Certified/Registered Yoga Instructor.
David also began practicing meditation in the TM tradition as a high school student in 1975. He approaches meditation to train the mind, in much the same way that fitness is an approach to train the body: Regular, devoted practice produces the greatest benefits. He believes that “Meditation is easier done, then said.”
Currently he is now focused on helping make yoga accessible to people of all ages and abilities, so that they too can benefit from its countless life enhancing qualities. His educational background is in psychology and education.
Practitioner: Joanna Israel comes to Open Mind Center with a 500 hour Yoga Teaching Certification as well as experience teaching several forms of adult and kids yoga.
Joanna initially started her yoga practice in order to recover from various running ailments. Eventually she realized that yoga can heal not only the body but also the mind. She wanted to share that realization with others and help them, which is what led her to teacher training.
Joanna’s goal as a teacher is to help her students find their own individual connection with yoga and mindfulness.
Instructor: Marlan Sandoval is a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified instructor and IT Specialist. Having 10 years of experience working in the “Corporate world,” Marlan understands first-hand how busy and stressed this working environment can be on a daily basis. He currently runs SUMA, providing technology solutions to businesses, individuals and wellness programs. He also works teaching Yoga and has taught at places including the Latin American Association and Peachtree Yoga Center. In addition, he teaches yoga to private clients. He brings a unique experience to all of his Yoga Classes focusing on strength, flexibility, length and body alignment. Born in Mexico, raised in East Cobb, he also has a background in break dancing.
