This is the perfect opportunity to meet our Directors of Training, David Lecomte & Alicia Shoemake, and learn about the details of the program and have any questions answered.
David has been playing competitive squash for the last 30 years and experienced the usual and frustrating injuries that arise from playing sports at a high level. Finding yoga only after intolerable back pain, he has returned to competitive squash play but also discovered a true calling to yoga. With his love of teaching and wellness, he committed to advancing his yoga practice to the next level through the LifePower Yoga 500-hour yoga teacher training certification process and is now a Yoga Alliance Certified/Registered Yoga Instructor.
David also began practicing meditation in the TM tradition as a high school student in 1975. He approaches meditation to train the mind, in much the same way that fitness is an approach to train the body: Regular, devoted practice produces the greatest benefits. He believes that “Meditation is easier done, then said.”
Currently he is now focused on helping make yoga accessible to people of all ages and abilities, so that they too can benefit from its countless life enhancing qualities. His educational background is in psychology and education.
Alicia’s passion for teaching yoga stems from over 13 years in Psychology, and over 9 years of experience with alternative therapies healing herself from chronic inflammation. She started her 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified Program in 2017 with LifePower Yoga, and recently completed her 300 Hour Certification. Alicia recognizes that every student’s journey is unique, fulfilling and life-affirming, and supports her students with a wide variety of life experience. She has worked in a variety of settings including small and large studios, home studios, goat yoga, and corporate yoga. Alicia offers a progressive approach to yoga with her active lifestyle and positive energy. Her areas of expertise are: Bhakti Yoga, Ashtanga, Guided Visualization, Advanced Breathwork, Essential Oils and live instrumentals.
