The Open Mind – Yin Yoga
August 15 @ 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:15pm on Wednesday, repeating until January 30, 2019
Yin Yoga is a passive yoga class focused on deep stretching of the connective tissues. These tissues make up the tendons, ligaments and joints of the body. Where muscles need a faster active stretch, connective tissues need a longer deeper stretch. Yin postures are held for approximately 3-8 minutes and practiced in either seated or supine positions. You’ll balance out the body, as well as bring stillness and peace to the ever-active mind. This is a perfect way to balance your more active classes and workouts! A yin approach works to promote flexibility in areas often perceived as non-malleable, especially in the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. This practice is available to all levels.

Instructor: Kelly Daniels As a devoted practitioner and teacher, Kelly, uses an intuitive and organic approach within Yoga’s asana, pranayama and meditative practices to create a safe, open and relaxed space for exploration. By guiding students on the mat through the use of asana sequencing and attention to the flow of the breath, her intention is for each student to gain access to the ever present subtle internal state that Yoga informs- and experience the power and usefulness of the individual mind/ body apparatus. She hopes to inspire each student to connect to their own unique inner teacher and exquisite divine nature. Kelly’s passion is Yoga- its healing and empowering alchemy. She often uses this quote in relaying her love of the sacred practice of Yoga…” the melody of the mind, the rhythm of the body and the harmony of the Soul create the symphony of life”. This is what she hopes to cultivate through her teaching. And with a personal practice of 15+ years and Yoga Alliance certified through Peachtree Yoga Center via mentor Graham Fowler, Kelly teaches All Levels, Restorative and Gentle Flow classes, as well as a Beginners class here at Open Mind.
