The Open Mind – Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a passive yoga class focused on deep stretching of the connective tissues. These tissues make up the tendons, ligaments and joints of the body. Where muscles need a faster active stretch, connective tissues need a longer deeper stretch. Yin postures are held for approximately 3-8 minutes and practiced in either seated or supine positions. You’ll balance out the body, as well as bring stillness and peace to the ever-active mind. This is a perfect way to balance your more active classes and workouts! A yin approach works to promote flexibility in areas often perceived as non-malleable, especially in the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. This practice is available to all levels.

Instructor: Nooshin Manafi has an extensive background in fitness and dance and seeks to embrace challenge on the yoga mat. She combines creative sequencing, alignment focus, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help students deepen their practice. Nooshin received her 200 hour certification through Peachtree Yoga and has a passion for teaching Vinyasa with an emphasis on finding ease in each movement. Yoga has been a part of Nooshin’s life for over 10 years, and her practice has helped her grow stronger, as well as more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. More importantly, yoga has inspired her to help others practice being in the present moment and thrive on life by nurturing the body, mind and soul with yoga and humor! She aims for her students step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced with a smile on their faces.
