Build your practice and deepen your experiences through the fundamentals of yoga. Students are instructed and supported in the process of learning proper alignment, breathing and relaxation techniques. The use of props is encouraged to support the practice and create greater confidence. This is a moderately paced class and is open to the beginner and experienced practitioner.

Instructor: Nooshin Manafi has an extensive background in fitness and dance and seeks to embrace challenge on the yoga mat. She combines creative sequencing, alignment focus, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help students deepen their practice. Nooshin received her 200 hour certification through Peachtree Yoga and has a passion for teaching Vinyasa with an emphasis on finding ease in each movement.
Yoga has been a part of Nooshin’s life for over 10 years, and her practice has helped her grow stronger, as well as more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. More importantly, yoga has inspired her to help others practice being in the present moment and thrive on life by nurturing the body, mind and soul with yoga and humor! She aims for her students step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced with a smile on their faces.
Instructor: Jody Harris (E-RTY200, RTY500) began her yoga journey looking to resolve pain from many years of running. After her first yoga class, she immediately connected to the physical, emotional, and spiritual healing that yoga brings. She has completed her therapeutically-oriented RYT500 training and is dedicated to helping others find a yoga practice that meets them where they are right now, celebrating what they can do regardless of their physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges. Jody volunteers at the Shepherd Spinal Center and is also a Reiki Practitioner.
Instructor: Sonya Kuropatwa, gentle guidance and loving touch extends from her fascination with the body as an instrument of spiritual and creative expression. Sonya came to yoga after more than 20 years a s a classically trained dancer, teacher, and choreographer as a means to further understand the mysteries of the mind-body connection. She has witnessed and guided her students through the wonders of movement, self-awareness, and connection. Her belief in the magic of touch as a means of healing and as a conduit for energy informs her teaching style, which relies strongly on imagery, humor, joy, and hands-on interaction. She has completed and co-facilitated several 200-hour and 500-hour teacher training and certification courses through throughout Atlanta and continues to share her knowledge and wisdom through her personal practice.
Instructor: Terrie Russell E-RYT 500, RCYT, YACEP, Terrie’s passion for yoga began in 2001 as a student of meditation. She discovered that mindfulness and meditation helped heal the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Always athletic, Terrie also noticed that the physical practices of yoga eased chronic back pain from scoliosis. Nonetheless, it was the more profound healing experience of inner release that led her into a deep desire to share as a teacher. She found a simple love for the process of taking students from a limited condition, such as stress or fear, into healing and delight. Her classes are an integration of youthful play and the journey to wholeness. Experienced detailed instruction and hands on support offer a safe practice for students of all ages and all levels.
Instructor: As a devoted practitioner and teacher, Kelly, uses an intuitive and organic approach within Yoga’s asana, pranayama and meditative practices to create a safe, open and relaxed space for exploration. By guiding students on the mat through the use of asana sequencing and attention to the flow of the breath, her intention is for each student to gain access to the ever present subtle internal state that Yoga informs- and experience the power and usefulness of the individual mind/ body apparatus. She hopes to inspire each student to connect to their own unique inner teacher and exquisite divine nature. Kelly’s passion is Yoga- its healing and empowering alchemy. She often uses this quote in relaying her love of the sacred practice of Yoga…” the melody of the mind, the rhythm of the body and the harmony of the Soul create the symphony of life”. This is what she hopes to cultivate through her teaching. And with a personal practice of 15+ years and Yoga Alliance certified through Peachtree Yoga Center via mentor Graham Fowler, Kelly teaches All Levels, Restorative and Gentle Flow classes, as well as a Beginners class here at Open Mind.
Instructor: David has been playing competitive squash for the last 30 years and experienced the usual and frustrating injuries that arise from playing sports at a high level. Finding yoga only after intolerable back pain, he has returned to competitive squash play but also discovered a true calling to yoga. With his love of teaching and wellness, he committed to advancing his yoga practice to the next level through the LifePower Yoga 500-hour yoga teacher training certification process and is now a Yoga Alliance Certified/Registered Yoga Instructor.
David also began practicing meditation in the TM tradition as a high school student in 1975. He approaches meditation to train the mind, in much the same way that fitness is an approach to train the body: Regular, devoted practice produces the greatest benefits. He believes that “Meditation is easier done, then said.”
Currently he is now focused on helping make yoga accessible to people of all ages and abilities, so that they too can benefit from its countless life enhancing qualities. His educational background is in psychology and education.
