TEACHER TRAINING FAQ

I have only been practicing for six months. Can I take the training?
Yes! If you’re hungry for the information, you’re ready! Some of the best teachers begin with very little experience. They just bring an open mind, an open heart and arrive ready to learn. As long as you are committed, you will be nourished by the information and inspired by the individuals around you.

I am not able to do many of the advanced postures. Can I take the program?
Yes! That is the whole point, to take your practice to a new level of understanding. Our 200-hour teacher training program helps you learn the foundations of asana and philosophy which empowers you to share your knowledge. You do not have to be able to do a headstand or balance on your hands to learn these fundamentals.

I don’t think I want to be a yoga teacher. Is that ok?
Of course! You will be deepening your existing practice to have greater awareness and connection to the body, mind and spirit. For many, this is the first step on the road towards seeing yoga everywhere – not just on the mat.

Can I miss a weekend? Do I have to do the entire training?
Attendance is required. Any missed lecture or section must be made up during a future training program or through paid private instruction before you receive a Yoga Alliance 200 – hour certification through The Open Mind Center. For consistency of the teaching, and the integrity of our program, we insist that attendance be mandatory.

Where is the training located?

Will I need to apply for Yoga Alliance accreditation separately? How do I go about that?

Register online through Yoga Alliance’s website and send in an electronic copy of your certificate. Once Yoga Alliance approves your status, your are then officially a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher.
