Yin Yoga is a passive yoga class focused on deep stretching of the connective tissues. These tissues make up the tendons, ligaments and joints of the body. Where muscles need a faster active stretch, connective tissues need a longer deeper stretch. Yin postures are held for approximately 3-8 minutes and practiced in either seated or supine positions. You’ll balance out the body, as well as bring stillness and peace to the ever-active mind. This is a perfect way to balance your more active classes and workouts! A yin approach works to promote flexibility in areas often perceived as non-malleable, especially in the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. This practice is available to all levels.

Instructor: Aimee Benton (RYT 200), is a yoga instructor, Real Estate broker, and compassionate friend. She believes that yoga is a process of exploring the body, remembering the breath, breaking boundaries, finding balance, and uncovering each individual’s divinity. Her sense of humor, no-nonsense approach, and dedication to making yoga accessible to all provides a safe place for students to deal with the daily grind of life (and the moments of overwhelm in between). Aimee’s quest for healing herself and finding the truth within has guided her education. In addition to 10+ years of personal practice and a heavy dance background from her youth, she is also a Yoga Alliance RYT 200 certified yoga instructor and is currently deepening her knowledge in both yin and core strength vinyasa yoga. Her classes place equal emphasis on strength building in the mind/body and the flexibility of the same, and they draw from many styles and include physical body alignment, pranyama (breath work), visualization, and meditation.
